Tainan City Government is the first to provide an innovative research and development project (Local SBIR) for local industries. The main focus of this project is to lower the risks for small and medium enterprises, which encourages them to participate in innovative research and development. A briefing is held in March each year, and applications are accepted between March and April. Research and development subsidy is estimated to be given to 75 enterprises every year.  ◆ Application Criteria：

Businesses set up (established) in Tainan City are both qualified for “Classification Standard of Small and Medium Enterprises and registered according to incorporation and business registration laws while proposals submitted need to be carried out in districts of Tainan City (those with only subsidiaries and branch offices registered in Tainan are not qualified for the applications)

◆There are mainly six types:

fashion on its own (including design and innovation)

high quality foods and drugs (including biotechnology and foods)

5G to Lead (including people’s livelihood and chemical, electronic parts manufacturing, electric facility manufacturing)

digital transformation and smart driving to roam (including innovative information, smart manufacture, metal and machinery)

smart green energy (including environmental protection)

startup company (new set within 5 years)..
